 Suggest a Book 

The Library welcomes suggestions from Lawson State Community College students for acquiring materials that support the institution's curriculum.

Assignment Alert

To better assist librarians with accommodating your students and their course assignments, please submit your request to the library using this form. Please send information at least 1 week prior to the beginning of an assignment.

Audio Video Assistance Request

This form should be completed after a campus activity form is submitted to the Facilities & Planning Department to facilitate any campus activities scheduled to take place in any of the Lawson State’s auditoriums, the gymnasium, or the cafeteria.

Course Reserve Request

Complete (one form) for each course reserve request. The Library does not purchase course textbooks. You can place a copy of your course textbook on reserve you may submit a personal copy.

Instructional Request

Faculty and instructors may request instructional sessions for their classes at both campus libraries. We encourage faculty and instructors to accompany their classes if at all possible.

Student Referral

The Library encourages faculty to refer students who request or need additional assistance with utilizing the library resources. Please complete the form below with as much information as possible.

Video Production Request

This form will help Audiovisual Technicians understand and fulfill all video production objectives and creative needs. Videos can take between 2-3 weeks to fully complete. Please submit your request within a reasonable time frame to assure the best quality video. 

Suggest Material for Purchase

Faculty may request/suggest library purchases (books, DVD, databases) by completing this request form.

Computer Usage Agreement

As a student at Lawson State Community College, You agree to adhere to the following guidelines when utilizing the computer services of the library.

Please complete this help form if you are having problems with logging into the library databases from off-campus. NOTE: You must be a "currently" enrolled student.

English Faculty Request

Borrowing & Renewing Books

1. Credentials: In order to borrow items from the library, the borrower has to bring a valid identification card issued by Lawson State Community College.

2. Length of Loans: Students may borrow books for 14 days, with one renewal. Books may be  renewed in person, by telephone or online. The Circulation Desk’s phone number is (205) 929-2068 (Birmingham campus) or (205) 929-3526 (Bessemer campus). There is a four book limit for this service.

Birmingham Campus

     There are 38 computers and one printer access located in the library.

     Our Ebony Computer Lab has 18 computers.

 

Bessemer Campus

     There are 13 computers and one printer access located in the library.

     Our Success Center Computer Lab has 16 computers and one printer access.

Printing and Copying

You must have your Lawson State Student ID card in order to print/copy. At this time, there is no cost for students but there is a limit of 5 pages per day in the library. 

1.  Sign in at the circulation desk with your Student ID and A#. 

2. The library staff will direct you to a computer.  After you gain access to your document.  Press " file" and "print" as you normally would.  

3.  Choose a printer to print to-- choose: "LawsonSecurePrinting"  and PRINT

3. Students may print up to 5 pages per day at no charge,  (this may change in the near future).  

4. When you have finished printing all of your documents, please let a library staff member know that you are ready for your documents.  They will pick up your print jobs for you. 

5. Make sure you have all of your documents before you leave.

6. If you need a stapler or a hole puncher those are located in the library for your convenience.  

NOTE** All jobs are printed and deleted.
